THE YANOMAMI TERRITORIALITIES
MARGINS BETWEEN GEOGRAPHY, LITERATURE, AND LAW

The article proposes a interdisciplinary analysis of the multiple conceptions of territory under the cosmology of the Yanomami people, establishing a critical dialogue between cultural geography, legal philosophy, and testimonial literature. The research is structured from an intersectional and decolonial perspective, which is essential for deconstructing the hegemonic Western view that reduces space to a commodity or an administrative boundary. The starting point is the legal-political clash against the “Copacabana Thesis” and the "Marco Temporal" (time limit) doctrine. The text argues that such mechanisms serve as tools for historical erasure, as the Brazilian State tends to interpret indigenous territory merely as a physical domain and static possession. This view ignores what Milton Santos calls "geographic space" as a system of objects and actions, and what Rogério Haesbaert defines as the inseparability between the material and the symbolic in the process of territorialization. Thus, the article aims to reveal that the Yanomami struggle is not merely for land, but for the validation of an existence that challenges extractivist logic, reaffirming territory as the intangible foundation of identity and resistance for indigenous peoples against the pressures of capital.
