A circuncisão e o reaproveitamento dos queratinócitos de prepúcio humano

Resumo

A circuncisão é a remoção parcial ou completa do prepúcio, um tecido cutâneo-mucoso que cobre e protege a glande. Estima-se que mundialmente 1 a cada 3 homens passou pelo este procedimento. Desta forma, a pele removida durante a cirurgia é um material de grande disponibilidade, do qual podem ser isolados vários tipos celulares, em especial os queratinócitos. Neste contexto, a presente revisão bibliográfica consiste em uma pesquisa de caráter exploratório-descritivo que tem como objetivo obter uma visão ampla sobre a circuncisão e as possíveis aplicações dos queratinócitos obtidos do prepúcio. Para determinar e descrever tais aplicações, foram utilizados 58 trabalhos, os quais forneceram dados suficientes para se atingir o objetivo proposto. A circuncisão é um dos procedimentos cirúrgicos mais realizados, principalmente por motivações religiosas e étnicas, mas também por razões terapêuticas e profiláticas. Têm sido determinadas diferentes aplicações médicas e laboratoriais da cultura celular de queratinócitos de prepúcio humano (QPH): cultura viral (em especial do papilomavírus humano); estudo do funcionamento da pele; efeito cutâneo de substâncias; e obtenção de folhetos epidérmicos cultiváveis e suspensões de células para tratamentos de lesões cutâneas. Assim, diante do fato de a circuncisão ser um procedimento comum, os QPH mostram-se como modelos acessíveis de células para cultura com variadas aplicações, demonstrando como o material prepucial pode ser reaproveitado e deixando abertas as possibilidades para determinação de novas aplicações.
