Abstract

The cultivation of sorghum and sunflower in the off-season is of great importance for agribusiness. Thus, it aims to evaluate the economic profitability of sorghum and sunflower crops at the entrance of a rural property in the municipality of Ipameri, Goiás.
In this study, the costs of implementing and conducting the crops were determined. The costs were organized into Effective Operating Cost (COE) and Total Cost (CT) and to check the economic viability of the crops, annual cash flows were prepared and the economic indicators were applied: Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit / Cost Ratio (RB) / C) and discounted Payback, in addition to the Sensitivity Analysis. The results for sorghum were NPV of R $ 222.91, B / C ratio of 0.97 and payback from the third year. As for sunflower, the results were NPV of R $ 1,828.10, R B / C equal to 1.29 and payback in the first year. The cultivation of sorghum and sunflower in the off-season showed different results. In this study, sorghum did not show economic profitability for the studied area, considering the high cost of production obtained. However, the sunflower proved a profitable cultivation option in the off-season, considering the profitability obtained with the crop in this study.
