ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA DA CAPACIDADE FUNCIONAL DE IDOSOS ESQUIZOFRÊNICOS INSTITUCIONALIZADOS.

Abstract

The objective was to identify the independence level and risk of falls in institutionalized schizophrenic elderly with or without motor intervention. The sample was constituted by 14 elderly ones distributed in two groups: G1 (motor intervention) and G2 (without motor intervention), being 57.1% (n=8) women and 42.8% (n=6) men, mean age of 74.36 ± 7.02 years. The level of education of the G1 was 2.14 ± 0.9 years, and G2 was 1.57 ± 0.79 years. The Mini-Mental State Examination in G1 observed mean of 16.86% ± 2.04 points and in G2 was 10.71 ± 4.68 points in total score. The risk of falls of G1, evaluated by the Index of Tinetti, the mean was 20.71 ± 1.80 points, and in G2 was 16.14 ± 2.14 points. The activities of daily life analyzed by the Index of Katz, in G1 the mean was 16.29 ± 2.14 and in G2 was 1.17 ± 0.49 points.
