About the Journal
Magazine History
The was Journal of Social and Environmental Law (UEG) was an initiative of Professors Thiago Henrique Costa Silva and Luciana Ramos Jordão, who brought together respected law professors and researchers from UEG and other important Law Colleges in Brazil and abroad.
The journal is a means of disseminating legal and interdisciplinary knowledge and expanding interaction between the State University of Goiás and other national and foreign institutions.
Focus and scope of the magazine
The Journal of Social and Environmental Law (UEG), published every six months and continuously flowing, is linked to the Law School of the State University of Goiás and, is aligned with the research and extension trajectory of its professors and students, it aims the promotion of fundamental rights, and the emphasis on socio-environmental issues.
Social and environmental issues are understood to be aspects related to socio-political and legal solutions to address problmes such as the promotion of plurality, dignity, equality, freedom, justice and democracy, in the diversity of notions of society, state, market and their roles, also the complex coexistence of traditional peoples and populations, cultures and cultural heritage, ethnic and gender issues, land and agrarian issues, property and territorialities, food and food sovereignty, water and water security, environment and nature.
Given this motto, ReDiS's mission is to be an instrument for disseminating academic papers, in the article, review and interview modalities, which are related to its scope, especially related to the area of Law, with an interdisciplinary and empirical fundament.
Focusing on professors and researchers in Law and related fields, the Journal is centeres around three thematic points:
- Theory, hermeneutics and judicialization of Fundamental Rights;
- Public Policies, Social Movements and the promotion of aHuman Rights;
- Empirical and critical research in Social and Environmental Law.
Thus, the submission of papers that fall into one of the aforementioned points is encouraged and, periodically, proposals for thematic dossiers linked to the editorial line will be accepted.
Ethics Policies
ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND GOOD PRACTICE
This journal is committed to the ethics and quality of publications. We defend an ethical behavior from all parties involved in publishing in our journal: authors, editor, reviewers and the Scientific Journal Editor. We do not accept plagiarism or any other unethical behavior.
DUTIES OF THE EDITOR
- Publication decision: the editor is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor is guided by the policies decided by the Editorial Board, the Scientific Committee and the Scientific Journals Editor. These policies must comply with applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. For decision-making, the editor may consult the Scientific Committee, the Editorial Board and the Periodicals Editor.
- Transparency and respect: The editor must evaluate submitted manuscripts without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality or political philosophy.
- Confidentiality: the editor and other members of the editorial team must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript, except to the reviewers and editorial advisors.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: The editor must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript submitted in their own research without the express written consent of the author. The editor must refuse to review manuscripts in which it has conflicts of interest for competitive, collaborative or other relationships or links with any of the author/s, companies or (possibly) institutions connected with the manuscripts.
- Involvement and cooperation in investigations: The editor must take reasonable necessary steps when ethical complaints have been made regarding a submitted manuscript or published article.
DUTIES OF THE PARTNERS
- Contribution to editorial decisions: reviewers assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through communications with the author, can also help the same in improving the article.
- Punctuality: Any reviewer of an article who does not feel qualified to review the article or knows that its immediate reading will be impossible must notify the editor immediately.
- Confidentiality: Works received for analysis must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown or discussed with others.
- Objectivity standards: opinions must be conducted objectively. Reviewers must express their views clearly and supported by arguments.
- About sources: reviewers should identify relevant published works that were not cited by the authors. The reviewer should draw the editor's attention to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript in question and any other published article of which he or she is personally aware.
- Disclosure and conflict of interest: privileged information or ideas obtained by the reviewer by reading the manuscripts must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal gain. The reviewer must not evaluate manuscripts in which there are conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative or other relationships or links with any of the authors, companies or institutions connected to the manuscripts.
DUTIES OF THE AUTHORS:
- General rules: authors of works that refer to original research must present an accurate report of the work carried out, as well as an objective discussion about its meaning. Supplementary data must be accurately represented in the article. The document must contain sufficient details and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
- Originality and plagiarism: authors must ensure that the works are entirely original and that they use the work and/or texts of others that this is properly cited. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical editorial behavior and is unacceptable.
- Multiple, redundant and simultaneous publication: an author should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time and/or publishing the same article in more than one journal constitutes unethical editorial behavior and is unacceptable.
- About the sources: the work of other authors must always be recognized. Authors should cite publications that were important in determining the nature of the work reported. Information obtained in private, such as in a conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without the source's explicit written permission. Information obtained through confidential services, such as handwriting arbitration or grant applications, should not be used without the explicit written permission of the author of the work involved in these services.
- Authorship: the authorship of the work should be restricted to those who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors. Persons who participated in certain aspects of the research project must be listed as contributors. The lead author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included in the article. The lead author must also ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript and that they have agreed to its submission for publication.
- Disclosure and conflicts of interest: All authors must disclose in the manuscript any financial or other conflicts that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.
- Fundamental errors in published works: when an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his published work, it is the author's obligation to immediately inform the journal editor or the Editoria de Periódicos and cooperate with the editor to correct the article.
DUTIES OF SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL EDITORIES
We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprinting or any other source of commercial revenue does not have any impact or influence on editorial decisions.
Our articles are peer-reviewed to ensure the quality of scientific publication.
