O lugar da Educação Ambiental frente às Mudanças Climáticas no Brasil: análises a partir dos Relatórios do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas (IPCC)

Resumo

O enfrentamento das mudanças climáticas, sob perspectiva da justiça climática, requer iniciativas a partir de realidades locais além de políticas globais e nacionais. Nesse sentido, a educação ambiental pode desempenhar papel fundamental para ampliação desse alcance territorial. O presente artigo objetivou a análise de conteúdo dos relatórios do IPCC à luz da Educação Ambiental brasileira. A educação é majoritariamente elencada como um componente de vulnerabilidade dos sistemas sociais, de maneira inversa ao nível educacional. Foram constatadas relações entre estratégias de mitigação e adaptação e a educação ambiental de maneira evolutiva ao longo dos anos pelos relatórios, como pela percepção dos riscos climáticos, mudanças de  comportamentos, empoderamento de atores e promoção da participação pública e política, fomento do capital e da aprendizagem sociais, fortalecimento dos arranjos institucionais, e articulação para uma governança multinível. Portanto, a educação ambiental pode contribuir para a resiliência e a adaptação dos territórios às mudanças climáticas.

    Pesquisador da Divisão de Impactos, Adaptação de Vulnerabilidade (DIIAV) do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE). Co-lider do LADIS - Laboratório de Análise e Desenvolvimento de Indicadores para a Sustentabilidade do DIIAV/CGCT/INPE. Docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência do Sistema Terrestre (PGCST) do INPE. Membro da coordenação científica do Sistema Brasileiro de Monitoramento e Avaliação de Políticas Públicas de Educação Ambiental (MonitoraEA).
