Abstract

This article presents and analyzes the role of ekedji in the ketu nation Candomblé, in Egbè Asé Yewalê Bemi Ti'Yemonja, in Boa Vista/Roraima. Our premise is that ekedes is a way of looking at care from new angles, presenting care, so undervalued in our capitalist Western society, as essential not only for terreiros, but for human existence. Therefore, the objective is to pay attention to the diversity of ways of thinking, living and believing, making the experiences and points of view of the ekedes emerge. From this perspective, this work was developed through a co-authorship with ekedji Rosa Barroso, based on her life narrative and experiences within the scope of Candomblé. Thus, the text is divided into two sections: the first, provides a brief review of the academic literature alluding to the position of ekede and its counterparts; in the second, we have the contribution of Dona Rosa Barroso articulated to the questions raised by the researchers.
