Indigenous people, Varnhagen and its Organic Memorial

Abstract

This paper is dedicated to analyse Adolfo de Varnhagen´s position about the presence of indigenous people in Brazil, through his text called “Memorial Orgânico”, parts 1 and 2. It is essential to highlight that Varnhagen was an important professional in history of historiography area, as it still is the echos of his writing. In this sense, the article dedicates it self to identify the racists stereotypes, disclosed in Varnhagen texts, and, unfortunately, it still is in our society.
