Abstract

The study has as its theme the relationship of the writings of Karl Marx in the history of education. The writing of educational history is something complex, which requires the use of a consistent theoretical foundation. In addition, there are different positions on historiographical writing, which in turn, represent the clashes in social relations, impregnated by a reductionist discourse, of an ideological nature, in which education is the resolution of all “problems” of a socioeconomic order, political and cultural. Based on the bias that historical events and relationships developed in society are not linear and static, the writing of the history of education has gone through and undergoes fluctuations over the years. This referral requires further study. However, the purpose of this study is limited to describing the influence of Karl Marx's thought in the writing of the history of education, focusing on materialism. Thus, we emphasize that, concerned with the constant transformations experienced in the 19th century, Karl Marx reflected on man's social life within a context of social transformations. Providing a theoretical production that supports the understanding of the relationships established in society, as well as the history of education, through a bias of understanding reality in its essence.
