A DESCONHECIDA PRODUÇÃO CONTEMPORÂNEA DA AGRICULTURA FAMILIAR EM GOIÁS
Abstract
Taking as an example the Micro-region of Ceres, in the State of Goiás, we try to raise consistent evidence of underreporting in the official statistics of agricultural production in Goiás, regarding ‘family agriculture’ or ‘peasant agriculture’. They have presented data from the Mauro Borges Institute (IMB), the official organ of the Government of the State of Goiás, and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). These data are compared to a survey obtained from the Rural Workers’ Unions, producers’ street markets, and in visits direct to the producers themselves. A chapter of the rescue of the rural economy, this article aims to place in the appropriate political position the peasant contribution in the present history of local and regional society, as a sample of national life.
