HISTORIOGRAFIA CLÁSSICA E OS CAMINHOS PARA HISTÓRIA MODERNA
Abstract
This text analyzes the book by the Italian historian Arnaldo Momigliano The classic roots of modern historiography published by Editora Unesp in 2019. Starting from his lectures at the University of Berkeley, California, the author has polished these presentations over twenty years. they were later published as a book after his death. Discussing ancient, medieval and modern historiography, he points out correlations between this knowledge and historical production in the 19th and 20th centuries. His texts intertwine erudition, critical analysis and correlations between the historian's knowledge and practice. Its reading allows to reveal ruptures and continuities present in the historiography of the West in its more than two thousand years of writing.
