PHYSIOTHERAPY STUDENT’S EXPECTATIONS REGARDING THE LABOUR MARKET

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Prior knowledge about the job market makes the newly graduated student or professional recognize all the possibilities that the profession can offer, in addition to preparing this student for this market. Objective: to ascertain the expectations of the physiotherapy student in relation to the labour market. Methodology: cross-sectional and analytical study with 150 Physiotherapy students from the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás (PUC-GO). Students of both sexes and all periods were included, and those under 18 years of age were excluded. For data collection, the Sociodemographic Data Sheet, the Socioeconomic Questionnaire of the Brazilian Association of Research Companies and the Record Form for the Expectations of the Physiotherapy Student were used. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás and all participants signed the Free and Informed Consent Form. Results: the students presented an optimistic perspective in relation to the labour market, they intended to improve their knowledge after graduation and were satisfied with the course. Conclusions: some important entrepreneurial characteristics among students were highlighted, aiming at excellence in their future work, and satisfaction in relation to the course that generated the expectation of a higher salary income in the first year of professional activity.
