Production and donation of seedlings of forest and fruit species at UEG - UnU Palmeiras de Goiás

Abstract

The production and donation of seedlings of forest and fruit species is an extension project carried out at the State University of Goiás, UnU Palmeiras de Goiás, since 2015. The project aims to produce native and exotic forest and fruit seedlings by students of Agronomy and Biological Sciences courses, to be donated to the internal and external community of UEG. The methodology consists of seed collection, subsequent processing and storage; preparation of substrates, filling of containers and sowing. During the production process, necessary cultural practices were carried out, such as: irrigation, weed, pest and disease control, fertilization and cleaning of the nursery area. In 2024, approximately 2500 seedlings of 20 species were produced and donated. The public demonstrated interest in both fruit-bearing and shade-providing species.
