The objective of the study was to evaluate the mycorrhization and the agronomic performance of a species of legume (Canavalia ensiformis) in the phytoremediation of soils contaminated with diesel oil. The experiment was carried out at the State University of Goiás (UEG) - Ipameri, GO, in a greenhouse with a completely randomized design, in a 2 x 2 x 2 factorial scheme with 6 replications, using soil contaminated and not contaminated by diesel oil; sterilized and non-sterilized soil; and seeds inoculated and not inoculated with mycorrhizal spores of the species Rhizophagus intraradices. The results were subjected to analysis of variance and means compared by Tukey's test at 5% probability with the aid of the SISVAR statistical program. The agronomic performance of jack bean is affected by the contamination of diesel oil in the soil, even with the inoculation of Rhizophagus intraradices. The fungus colonization capacity was not enough to promote the phytoremediation of soils contaminated with diesel oil.
