Abstract

Nectandra nitidula Nees is a species popularly known as “cinnamon-yellow”, belonging to the Lauraceae family, with tropical and subtropical distribution, very common in forests close to rivers or anthropogenic sites, located in Cerrado areas. The present study aimed to evaluate the morphology and leaf anatomy of the species in order to provide morphoanatomical information and expand botanical biological studies. The leaf blades were submitted to the freehand cutting technique, paradermal and transversal cuts to visualize the stomata and aspects of the internal anatomy, under the preparation of semi-permanent blades, submitted to double coloration, with 80% Astra Blue and the Safranine 0.5%. The leaf anatomy revealed a unistratified epidermis with intracuticular wax, tetracytic stomata on both epidermal surfaces, located on the same level or slightly below the others, with a greater number on the adaxial surface, absence of trichomes, dorsiventral mesophyll, midrib with collateral vascular bundle, wrapped by parenchymal sheath.
