Germination under eucalipto seeds water stress in simulated
Abstract
Studies related to the germination of seeds subjected to artificial stresses need essential importance for ecophysiology and are used to enable the assessment of tolerance limits and changes in species and conditions of natural stresses. The objective was that the performance of this work was evaluated through simulation with mannitol, the different levels of tolerance to water stress in seedlings of four species of Eucaliptus spp. The experimental design adopted was the randomized, in the factorial scheme (5 x 4), with four replications. As variables for germination percentage (GERM), germination speed index (IVG) and average germination time (TMG). As four tested eucalyptus species do not respond effectively when submitted to osmotic samples of mannitol, that is, they are highly sensitive when subjected to water stress. However, one E. camaldulensis species was the only one that caused a higher tolerance limit and, in this case, withstood up to -0.4 MPa.
