Production and socioeconomic development of Settled by agrarian reform in Cocalzinho - GO

Abstract

Land reform and its settlements face a number of difficulties before and after land distribution to beneficiary families. This study aimed to raise questions about production and socioeconomic development of settlements belonging to the settlements of Cocalzinho de Goiás (GO). The study was conducted in the three settlements of the municipality. It was applied to six people from each settlement, a semi-structured questionnaire containing questions about the problem and about the socioeconomic information of the settlers. Through this questionnaire, we obtained some answersof how these families have developed in these settlements. The results showed that even after obtaining land these settlers still face great difficulties in rural areas. The high illiteracy rate, the low income of the families, the neglect of the technical assistance, and the difficulty of obtaining the debt were verified. These issues should be widely discussed and resolved by the government, thus adopting improved conditions for consenting developers.
