Etiology and symptomatology of Colletotrichum acutatum in fruits of Solanum gilo: a brief review
Abstract
The objective of this study was to conduct a brief literature review of Colletotrichum acutatum in gilo culture, focusing on etiology and symptomatology. It is known that the species C. acutatum, C. gloeosporioides, C. coccodes, C. capsici and C. boninense are associated with anthracnose on gilo. The identification of Colletotrichum species pathogenic is traditionally made by characters such as morphology and morphometry of conidia. C. acutatum has conidia with acute apice sending abruptly with dimensions of 9.2 – 16.3 x 2.0 – 3.7 µm. The symptoms are more evident in fruit characterized by large and rounded, necrotic lesions and slightly raised edges with the formation of lesions typical concentric rings. Morphological characteristics as size and shape of the conidia can be used to characterize C. acutatum.
