Abstract

“O nengro: de bom escravo a mau cidadão”? é o título do livro de Clóvis Moura que resultou da compilação de três trabalhos sobre a escravidão negra. Composto por três partes todas interligadas ao título, tece uma crítica contundente à persistência de estruturas coloniais e escravistas na sociedade brasileira mesmo após a abolição. Publicado originalmente em 1977 e reeditado em 2021, pela Dandara editora, a obra objetiva-se a desconstruir a visão tradicional de “passividade” concebida ao africano negro na era do escravismo, demonstrando o papel ativo do negro no interior das lutas sociais no Brasil tanto para sua libertação quanto para a independência do Brasil.
